Bridget Montgomery, student in the Practical Nursing program at the Greater Altoona Career & Technology Center (GACTC) is the recipient of a scholarship from the Pennsylvania Association of Practical Nursing Administrators (PAPNA) from the central PA region.

Annually, PAPNA awards three scholarships, one from each section of the state, including eastern, western, and central Pennsylvania. Requirements for consideration of the financial scholarship include high academic standing in a practical nursing program, an essay, and recommendation from a practical nursing program coordinator.

“Bridget is extremely motivated to become an LPN. She has already embarked on a specific plan to further her education in the nursing profession beyond LPN. Despite working, going to school, and having a family, Bridget is always pleasant and upbeat. She is supportive and kind to all including classmates, patients, and clinical staff,” remarked Lisa Urban, GACTC Practical Nursing Program Coordinator.

Ms. Montgomery is the class president of the current GACTC part-time Practical Nursing class.

In addition to her participation in the Practical Nursing program, Ms. Montgomery is enrolled in the LPN to RN transition program with Mount Aloysius College and intends to complete a Bachelor of Science in Nursing after completion of the Practical Nursing program in August 2022.
