SkillsUSA kickoff assembly held at the GACTC
The SkillsUSA kickoff assembly at the GACTC was a big success, with students excited to be back together to show their support for the organization! The State Director of SkillsUSA, Dodie Amigh, joined us for the kickoff event.
The GACTC schedules Open House for Dec. 6
The GACTC is welcoming potential students, their families, and members of the public to an Open House on Tues., Dec. 6 from 5:00-7:00 pm! Instructors will be on hand to discuss our more than 25 programs for high school and adult learners. Adults will have the opportunity to discuss financial aid options with administrators, too. Welcome!
GACTC holds graduation events for practical nurses
The GACTC graduated 63 students, both full-time and part-time, from the Practical Nursing program on August 18, 2022. Graduation activities including a pinning ceremony and graduation, which was held at the Altoona Area High School. The “pinning ceremony,” a symbolic welcoming of new nurses into the profession, can be dated as far back as the 12th century, and became standard in the United States by 1916. Students to graduate from Practical Nursing program at the GACTC
Events to include a pinning ceremony and graduation The GACTC is preparing to graduate 64 students from our Practical Nursing program. Both full-time and part-time students from the Practical Nursing program will graduate. Adult students in healthcare fields graduate from the GACTC on August 4
Thirteen adult students graduated from the Medical Assistant, Medical Office Specialist, and Expanded Function Dental Assistant diploma programs at the Greater Altoona Career & Technology Center (GACTC) on August 4. The students earned more than $114,000 in grant funding to complete their programs. The six Medical Assistant and one Medical Office Specialist students completed a minimum of 200 hours each of clinical experience at local medical facilities, including rotations in phlebotomy and EKG for the [...]
