PA Safety Inspection of Vehicles Certification Course & Emission Testing

Course description:

This Pennsylvania state approved course is designed to provide automotive mechanics with the required certification to conduct the PA Safety Inspection of Vehicles. Specific categories that individuals may become certified in include:

  • Category I: Passenger
  • Category II: Motorcycles
  • Category III: Heavy Trucks

Upon satisfactory completion of the course, which includes classroom and vehicle inspection, a certificate will be issued by the PA Department of Transportation.

Cost:

$200.00, which includes textbook and Category I inspection test; an additional $50.00 is assessed for each additional category. Additional textbooks are $15.00 each.

Course Hours:

12 hours of classroom instruction, plus inspection test(s) (written and tactile); All instruction and testing conducted at the GACTC.

Schedule:

The next scheduled inspection class is February 1,8, 2025 with the tactile testing on February 15, 22, 2025.

Description:

This certification testing is offered for automotive technicians for Northern Region Emission Certification.  Individuals must register for the certification testing via the PA Inspection Mechanic Training and Certification portal at: https://www.patrainingportal.com.

Cost

$40 for new certification (payable via the PA Inspection Mechanic Training and Certification portal), plus $20 testing fee to GACTC (payable to GACTC)

Healthcare Certifications

Course description:

Our certified Registered Nurses can provide the Pennsylvania recognized IV Therapy Certificate course. The course includes instruction for the following topics:

  • Review legal limitations for the LPN scope of practice related to IV Therapy in PA.
  • Incorporate the functions of the LPN related to the care and maintenance of Central Lines.
  • Provide lab practice for insertion and maintenance of peripheral IV lines.
  • Review fluid and electrolyte imbalances.
  • Simulate blood draws through IV lines.
  • Correctly identify possible complications of IV therapy.
  • Discuss administration of Total Parenteral Nutrition.
  • Simulate dressing changes and flushing of central lines in the lab.

Welding Certifications

Course Description:

This training will prepare welders for bridgework welding certification including certification testing on welding process, preparation of material, and joint configuration for SMAW. The semi-automatic process addition (FCAW/GMAW) training can also be provided in this training, based on needs of individual. Training will include 1 hour of theory and 7 hours of application in welding shop at the GACTC.

Materials:

Student must provide welding gloves, helmet, jacket, and safety glasses.

Cost:

The cost varies depending on number of students and welding training needed. Please call the Continuing Education Office for more details.

Description:
