The Greater Altoona Career & Technology Center (GACTC) held its annual Senior Awards banquet yesterday (May 12), honoring the school’s top senior students.
Students who received scholarships, awards, and the “Senior of the Year” award in their respective programs were honored. Selected by each program’s teacher, the Senior of the Year exhibits outstanding qualities of success in skills as well as attitude and work ethic.
The event was held at the school at 6:00 pm.

“The students honored at this event will soon become the cornerstone of our region’s workforce. Most will go on for additional specialized training, others will enter the military, and some will begin contributing to our region’s economy immediately by entering the workforce. Take note of this year’s honorees; you will see their names again as they grow to be our community’s next generation of leaders.” said Mr. Eric Palmer, Executive Director.
In addition, Stuckey Automotive was named GACTC’s “Partner of the Year,” an award given annually to an industry partner to recognize their continued support of the school. For many years, GACTC students have worked in the automotive industry through co-op positions at Stuckey Automotive. In 2022, Stuckey Automotive donated two vehicles to the school to facilitate hands-on learning opportunities for students in the Automotive Technology, Collision Repair & Refinishing Technology, and Automotive/Diesel Technology programs.
