The Automotive Technology Program is a competency-based program designed to follow the standards specified by the ASE Education Foundation. The program also includes other competency tasks based on the direct needs of local businesses and other community organizations.

GET THE SKILLS YOU NEED TO SHINE

Students will receive training in the following specialty areas described by ASE to successfully complete the program:

  • Automatic Transmission/Transaxle Maintenance
  • Heating and Air Conditioning Maintenance
  • Manual Drive Trains and Axles Maintenance
  • Suspension and Steering
  • Basic Engine Repair
  • Brakes
  • Electrical Systems
  • Engine Performances

Senior-year students will enroll in the Pennsylvania State Inspection Mechanic Certification Program. Juniors who meet a minimum set of standards and are accepted can choose to participate in the ASE Education Foundation school-to-work program. The ASE program starts with the student in his or her junior year with job shadowing and a full-time paid internship in the summer between the junior year and the senior year. ASE Foundation is a dynamic partnership among automotive manufacturers, participating local dealers and career & technical schools. Senior students will have the opportunity to enter the work experience program if all requirements are met.

WHAT CAN STUDENTS EXPECT?

  • Possess mechanical interest and aptitude
  • Be able to learn required math specific to the program
  • Have the ability to use basic computer skills
  • Be physically able to lift heavy vehicle parts
