GET THE SKILLS YOU NEED TO SHINE
The Service Occupations curriculum encompasses the areas of workplace safety, grounds maintenance, retail, housekeeping and custodial, as well as kitchen safety, cooking and baking, dining room services, commercial dishwashing, and commercial laundry services. During the first year, students will gain exposure to all areas of the curriculum. As they progress through the program, students will select a career path that aligns with their interests and abilities.
Individual abilities and needs of each student will be assessed in order to assist each student in successful completion of the program. Students will learn hands-on skills while also focusing on workplace readiness, interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently and collaboratively, and the development of good work habits. The students will train in all areas of the curriculum with the intent of obtaining competitive entry-level employment.
STUDENTS ARE EXPECTED TO:
- Desire and ability to obtain competitive employment
- Be able to work successfully in a 4:1 student to staff setting
- Have basic understanding of safety
- Comprehend written and/or verbal instructions
- Perform repetitive work motion requiring hands-on skills
- Possess a neat appearance and good personal hygiene
