The GACTC continues to respond to the needs of area students and employers by adding new adult education programs and virtual or hybrid options for existing programs. Today the school announced these additions for the 2023-2024 academic year:
Electrical Trades Diploma Program: This adult-only program will train students to install, troubleshoot, and service electrical equipment and systems. The 900-hour program will teach electrical theory and provide hands-on experience, providing students with the knowledge and skills necessary to obtain employment in this in-demand field, which is classified as a High Priority Occupation (HPO) by the state. Industry-recognized credentials, such as OSHA training, are incorporated into the program. Enrollment will begin for the 2023-2024 school year.
Online Medical Administrative Assistant (MAA) Diploma Program: This 1,080-hour program will begin in January 2024 and conclude in September 2024. Courses will be offered asynchronously to accommodate students’ schedules, and an in-person internship will be required during the last term. Students participating in the online program will have access to local student services, faculty, adviser, and use of computer lab and in-person study space. The traditional, in-person MAA program will continue to be offered during the academic school year of September 2023-June 2024. The program curriculum provides preparation for multiple industry-recognized credentials including certification as a Certified Medical Administrative Assistant and Certified Medical Billing and Coding Specialist.
Hybrid Medical Assistant (MA) Diploma Program: This 1,380-hour program will begin in January 2024 and conclude in December 2024. Courses will be offered asynchronously, and an in-person internship will be required in the last term. Students will also be required to attend classes at the GACTC one to two evenings each week to practice hands-on skills and competencies. Students participating in the online program will have access to local student services, faculty, adviser, and use of computer lab and in-person study space. The traditional, in-person MA program will continue to be offered from September 2023-September 2024. The program curriculum provides preparation for multiple industry-recognized credentials including certification as a Certified Medical Assistant through the American Association of Medical Assistants, Certified Phlebotomy Technician, and more.
